Join the Hive!

Better Together.

Hivemind Creative Co-Op is a collective of artists and creatives working together for a better and sustainable future in the arts.

How it works

1

Fill Out Membership Application

Review and agree to the Code of Conduct and terms of membership. Tell us about yourself!

2

Submit Portfolio

Submit your body of work for consideration. Members are approved by the Board of Directors and current Co-Op Members.

3

Pay Yearly Dues

Once accepted, members are asked to pay yearly dues of $25 to contribute to the mutual aid fund.

4

Join the Discord

The discord is the hub of member benefits and communications. After acceptance, creatives are also featured on the member directory.

Membership is open to any artists and creatives working independently in creative fields. Hivemind acts as an advocate, representative and union for our creatives. We push for higher wages and conditions for workers in the creative industry and use community to support artists. Membership dues are kept intentionally low to not be a barrier to membership while also being a crucial element for the Co-Op. Mutual aid is a founding principle of Hivemind. We are better together, united in purpose and action.

BENEFITS

  • Access to the Discord
    • The Discord has network of other professionals offering their guidance, expertise and critique to help every member rise to the next level. Members also help select collective themes and projects for the Co-Op to work from, vote on memberships, contribute to the Co-Op decision making and get first access to upcoming projects and events
  • Priority Consideration
    • Co-Op members receive priority consideration for projects. Members have the option to submit early and are considered first before the Co-op looks at entries from the general public.
  • Project Submission
    • Members can submit to release projects under the Hivemind umbrella to get a greater audience for their work and collect monetary compensation while retaining all rights to their work.
  • Collective Bargaining
    • All members agree to a “working minimum,” a minimum rate creatives can take when taking on work. The intention is to force better wages across the board through collective action. As a collective, we also work together to make sure contracts are fair and do not exploit creatives.
  • Featured in the Member Directory
    • All members are featured in our searchable database for potential clients to find. Membership being curated means we have the highest quality creatives available in once place offering a more streamlined experience for clients to search. This puts our members on the front line for potential work.
  • Mutual Support
    • Members can share their current works and projects and receive support from Co-Op members as well as Hivemind as an entry by offering promotion to the Hivemind audience at large.
  • Access to the Mutual Aid Fund**
    • The mutual aid fund is meant to fund creative projects and also offer hardship help for life’s ups and downs without knocking artists out of the industry. Members can apply to the Co-Op for funding.
    • **There is currently a funding freeze until 2027 as we build the reserves. We need the fund before we can start giving it out. Priority will be given to the longest memberships during the first disbursement period to make up for the freeze time.
